The MTD Board is made up of seven directors. Two are appointed by the County Board of Supervisors, two are appointed by the Santa Barbara City Council, one is appointed by the Goleta City Council, and one is appointed by the Carpinteria City Council. The seventh member, also known as the at-large director, is appointed by the other six members of the board.
Currently the seven serving directors have a combined wealth of transit experience which has proven to be a great benefit to MTD and the community of Santa Barbara.

Retired Transit Planning Consultant and Finance Manager; Former member of the Carpinteria Planning Commission and Carpinteria Rotary Club; Retired Transit Planning Consultant and Finance Manager; Transit Development Manager, Santa Barbara MTD, retired in 2001.
Appointed in 2010 by the City of Santa Barbara.
Appointed in 1997 by the City of Santa Barbara.
Retired Region Manager for Southern California Edison; Board of Directors for Santa Barbara Region Chamber of Commerce; Advisory Board for the Museum of Natural History.
Appointed in 2005 by the County Board of Supervisors.
Retired Executive, Carrier Corporation; Former Mayor of Carpinteria; Former member of SBCAG Board, APCD Board.
Appointed in 2012 by MTD's Board of Directors.
Retired Assistant Director of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at UCSB; former Vice Chair of the Transportation Alternatives Board at UCSB; Planning Commissioner for the City of Goleta; member of APCD Community Advisory Council.
Appointed in 2012 by the City of Goleta.
Elected to the Goleta City Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012. Mayor from December 2011-December 2012; previously served on the Goleta Planning Commission, the Design Review Board, and the City of Goleta Old Town Project Advisory Committee.
