Santa Barbara MTD is celebrating 50 years of service to the South Coast community.

As we look back on our first 50 years, we also continue to innovate and evolve with the changing mobility landscape to thrive in the next 50 years.

50 YEARS OF SERVICE

Santa Barbara MTD began revenue service on February 1, 1969 with 12 buses serving six routes. Over the past 50 years, we’ve grown alongside our community. Today we operate 112 buses serving 42 different routes. Through pioneering work on battery-electric vehicle technology, lasting partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to customer service, we’re proud to celebrate our golden anniversary with you.
